Costa Brava is a coastal region of northeastern Spain in the province of Gerona. The name Costa Brava, in Spanish and Catalan, means “Rugged Coast”. In the 1950’s Costa Brava was identified as being suitable for substantial tourism development by the Franco government in Spain. Over the years the tourism industry has taken over the principal finishing industry in the area.
